Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, and Donald Trump, the US equivalent, reached an agreement on a phone call on Tuesday to request a constrained 30-day ceasefire for Russian and Ukrainian energy targets.
Putin, however, refused to consent to a longer-term US-backed peace.
Talks aimed at moving closer to a larger peace strategy, including a whole ceasefire and lasting peace, would start “immediately,” according to White House. No agreement was made regarding the restricted peace plan by Ukraine.
Trump said,” We’ll get working quickly for a full ceasefire,” calling his discussions with Putin “productive.”
Additionally, Puttin emphasized that any lasting peace deal must include the complete withdrawal of foreign military help and the provision of intelligence to Kyiv.
Trump had been pressing Putin to agree to a 30-day peace, which he hoped would bring Europe’s biggest fight to an end after World War II. Millions of people have been displaced as a result of the conflict, which has also caused hundreds of thousands of people to die or be injured, and destroyed whole cities.
