On Wednesday, it was announced that the University of California system’s regional representatives voted to outlaw the use of diversification remarks when hiring university.
Stand-alone variety statements are no longer permitted in recruitments, according to a letter from Katherine Newman, executive vice president for academic matters. Additionally, it is still acceptable to acknowledge current or prospective employees who have contributed to diverse excellence.
The Board of Regents at the University of California, which regulates the 10-campus technique, made the decision.
It comes in the wake of a” Dear Colleague Letter” from the Trump administration that claimed DEI initiatives in higher learning frequently discriminate against civilization and violate Title VI. Colleges and universities may lose federal funding if they employed DEI initiatives, according to the letter, which states that La efforts are primarily unfair.
According to the UCLA Daily Bruin, instructors are complaining that Trump is enforcing campus policies by threatening to rip funding.

The governors “announced the choice as they convened at UCLA, their second meeting since the federal government opened a number of studies at UC and other U.S. colleges over claims that they discriminate against light, Asian American, and Israeli employees and students,” according to The Los Angeles Times.
According to the Times, “many sections at UC schools have required employment seekers to post written testimonials of one or two pages about how they have worked to promote and support cultural and other forms of variety in their fields” as part of work applications or promotions.
