In an effort to lower consumer costs, the Trump presidency is importing hundreds of millions of egg, and it is expanding its efforts to supply eggs from more nations. In the last fortnight, chicken costs have already fallen by more than 50 %.
Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins stated to investigators at the White House on Friday that the country has been importing a lot of hens from South Korea and Turkey, with other nations anticipated to add to that number.
” We currently import egg from Turkey and South Korea. I spoke with a couple of other nations only yesterday that will soon start importing. We haven’t already agreed on a deal, but I don’t want to reveal who it is,” she said.
Rollins added that the goods are a temporary estimate to keep costs low while the United States works to repopulate its chicken people.
” We are discussing the hundreds of millions of egg in the near future. No insignificant, but important enough to support the price reduction right then,” she said. ” And then we move back to our internal egg-layers and putting those eggs on the shelf when our meat populations are repopulated and we have a full egg-laying industry in place, hopefully in a few months.”
In the presidential campaign of 2024, chicken charges became one of the most obvious indicators of inflation. From January 2021 to January 2025, egg prices rose 237 %, from$ 1.47 to$ 4.95 per dozen. This rise was mostly driven by an outbreak of avian virus. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s policies mandate the mass slaughter of flocks of afflicted chickens to stop the spread. More than 100 million chickens were culled by the Biden administration, which severely impacted the chicken offer.
As part of his wider pledge to reduce inflation, President Donald Trump made the vital promise of lowering egg prices. Some Democratic figures who sought to change the high yolk prices after his inauguration into a gathering cry criticized the continued high ovum prices.
EGG PRICES ARE PLUNGE NEARLY$ 2, LOWER THAN WHEN TRUMP OPENED OFFICE.
On February 26, Rollins unveiled a billion-dollar strategy to lower egg prices, which included charging farmers and developing vaccines. The widespread export of egg until meat populations are restored was one of her goals.
As of March 21, general chicken prices have fallen by only$ 3.27 over the past month.
