On Thursday night, large fires broke out at the airport’s electronic substation, causing flights to get diverted midair, leading to significant disruption for passengers arriving at London’s Heathrow Airport. California’s comedian Adam Conover was one of the passengers on American Airlines ‘ less than four-hour flight from Los Angeles International Airport ( LAX ) to Heathrow.
Conover is frustrated because the aircraft landed back at LAX at 10:17 p, leaving him at a sold-out stand-up performance on Saturday night at London’s Leicester Square Theatre. However, he was able to secure an alternative program thanks to his manager’s assistant, who he praised as” a noble woman named Maddy.”
Conover was not the only traveler who was irritated, though. Long lines formed at British Airways customer service offices on Friday evening as people struggled to rebook flights at John F Kennedy International Airport ( JFK) in New York.
Tourist Harriet Swarbrack, who has been visiting New York since Monday, said,” We’re ready to go home. We really don’t want to get around again.” When the skipper made the announcement, she and her companion Danielle Llewellyn were three days into their JFK-to-Heathrow trip.
No one is helping us with rebooking, Swarbrack said, adding that at this stage, we’ll travel to any city in Europe. The New York Post wrote in response.
According to FlightRadar24, there are roughly 146 planes flying between JFK and Heathrow’s busiest airport each year.
Despite the disturbance, Heathrow’s CEO, Thomas Woldbye, reassured customers that the aircraft is anticipated to be functional once more by Saturday morning.
