Wisconsin voters can sign a petition opposing “activist judges,” according to a political action committee funded by billionaire Elon Musk, for$ 100, just two weeks before a crucial state Supreme Court election. The petition was made public by the PAC, America PAC, via a post on X, and included a promise to pay an additional$ 100 for each signer who is referred.
According to the petition,” Petition in opposition to activist courts should interpret laws as they are written, not modify them to meet their personal or political goals.” By signing above, I’m calling for a court that respects its role-interpreting, not its legislative process and rejecting the deeds of activist judges who impose their personal opinions.
Before the November presidential election, Musk’s PAC made a similar campaign available by offering up to$ 1 million per day to voters in Wisconsin and six other battleground states who signed a petition in favor of the first and second amendments.
Susan Crawford, the Democratic-backed member for Wisconsin’s Supreme Court, is accused in the latest promotion. Derrick Honeyman, the campaign spokesman for Crawford, claimed Musk was” trying to buy a couch on the Wisconsin Supreme Court to secure a beneficial decision in his bank’s complaint against the state. “.
Tesla, the electronic vehicle manufacturer led by Musk, filed a lawsuit in Wisconsin earlier this year over regulations preventing it from opening clear retailers there. The outcome of the election could determine whether the Wisconsin Supreme Court stays under democratic control or converts to a conventional lot.
According to statistics from the Brennan Center for Justice, America PAC and another Musk-funded organization, Building for America’s Prospect, have spent more than$ 13 million on Brad Schimel, the Republican-favored candidate in the election.
Schimel has a close relationship with previous president Donald Trump, with Donald Trump Jr. Trump’s child running for president this week. Additionally, flyers urging voters to support Schimel as a “pro-Trump liberal” have been distributed by America PAC.
The petition strategy has previously drawn the attention of courts. A judge ruled in favor of a related attempt by Musk’s PAC in Pennsylvania last year after it was challenged in court.
