A Texas uncle was killed in a horrible incident when he was caught in a shootout while eating lunch for his grandchildren at a well-known fast-food restaurant.
Jorge Arbaiza, 61, was shot multiple periods inside a McDonald’s in Houston on Sunday, according to a declaration from the Harris County sheriff’s office. When two groups of men engaged in a shootout, which caused panic inside the cafe, which was crowded with buyers and children, Arbaiza had been ordering Happy Meals for his two children.
His family, Teresa, who had been married to him for almost 40 years, was present for the terrifying events as they waited outside in the vehicles with their children. She recalled the frightful events when she spoke to KHOU 11.
” I couldn’t let the boys run away. I was unable to enter,” Teresa said. ” The children were crying and scared,” the statement read.
Teresa spotted a guy with a weapon in the rearview mirror of her car just before the shooting started. She called her husband’s phone when she could not see him leaving the other users. She said,” I’m dying. I’m dying.” The next words she heard from him were chilling. I’m going to pass away.
Arbaiza was taken to a medical by airlift but eventually succumbed to his injuries. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez of Harris County said that Arbaiza prayed and made the sign of the cross in his last moments. Gonzalez hailed the acts of violence as” senseless.”
Owner and chef of the Houston McDonald’s, Stuart Brown, even expressed his condolences to Fox News Digital in a speech. We are seriously depressed by this senseless violence, which tragically resulted in a tragic loss of life. Our emotions are with the home of the victim, and we are stepping up our efforts to help the neighborhood police department.
Authorities confirmed that one of the people involved in the firing was also hurt and taken to a doctor where police quizzed him. Investigators identified several individuals linked to the battle by using security footage to observe a suspect vehicle.
Antonio Ridge was detained and charged with Arbaiza’s death on Thursday, according to the Harris County sheriff’s office. Ridge is now being detained in Harris County.
Further investigations revealed that a semi-automatic weapons used in the firing had been improperly modified using a” Glock switch,” a device that converts one into an automatic one. Judge Gonzalez has since pledged his assistance for a proposed Texas law that would make the hands and use of these alterations illegal.
Gonzalez wrote on social media that” these valves pose a major threat to our community and law enforcement. Come pass this bill and give it a name in honor of Mr. Arbaiza.
