Disney officials confirmed the incident with FOX 35 News that a fire broke out on Saturday evening backstage at the France Pavilion in the well-known EPCOT topic area. No injuries were reported in the incident, according to officials.
A walk-in cool apparently caught fire behind the scenes of the French-themed palace, which set off the flames. Although videos that are available on social media show dust continuing to pour out of the place, Disney officials confirmed to FOX that the fireplace was quickly contained.
The incident occurred at the area during a hectic time as visitors flock to EPCOT for Spring Break and the International Flower &, Garden Festival, which are taking place through June 2.
Authorities are continuing to look into the event despite it being unclear when the fire started and what size the fire was.
Walt Disney World Resort, which is located 20 miles south of Orlando, Florida, has four theme parks, including EPCOT. Between the Moroccan and United Kingdom towers, the France Pavilion is a part of EPCOT’s World Showcase.
