Seoul, South Korea ( AP ) — The Supreme Court of South Korea reinstated the country’s No. 1 on Monday after overturning the impeachment of prime minister Han Duck-soo. 2 standard as standing leader, but they are not already ruling on Yoon Suk Yeol’s individual impeachment.

After Yoon was impeached by the National Assembly for imposing martial law on December 3 and causing a severe social problems, Han assumed office of acting president. However, due to political friction between opposition politicians and the council, Han was impeached as well in later December.

The country’s leading two officials were suspended for an extraordinary number of years, which exacerbated a national conflict and raised concerns about the government’s diplomatic and economic activities. Choi Sang-mok, the deputy prime minister and funding secretary, had since been in office as the acting president.

The Constitutional Court announced on Monday that it has made a decision to reject Han’s prosecution, but it has not yet decided whether Yoon should be reinstated.

South Korea has elect a new president if the court supports Yoon’s prosecution. Yoon may be reelected and given his political power if it rules for him.

About two weeks prior to Han’s impeachment, Yoon was impeached. Earlier, observers had anticipated that the Constitutional Court had decide Yoon’s event in the middle of March, but it hasn’t since.

In connection with his fighting law decree, Yoon has been independently detained and charged with rebellion. He may face the death penalty or a career word if found guilty of that crime. After a Seoul district judge granted him the right to have his criminal prosecution without being detained, Yoon was released from prison on March 8.

The roads of Seoul and other significant cities in South Korea have been divided by large rival rallies supporting or denouncing Yoon. Previous studies revealed that the majority of South Koreans were opposed to Yoon’s implementation of military laws, but those who supported or sympathized with him have since grown in popularity.

Yoon’s cause is at the center of the dispute, and why he sent hundreds of police and soldiers to the council after declaring martial law. Yoon claims he aimed to keep things order, but older military and police officers that claim Yoon directed them to pull out lawmakers to stop them from overriding his decree. Sufficient lawmakers ultimately walked into an assembly hall and rejected it in a unanimous vote.
