After an over research, a motorcyclist who plunged into a large sinkhole on a Seoul street, according to South Korean authorities who found her dead.
The incident took place on Monday evening in the Myeongil-dong region of southeast Seoul, where a hole that was about 20 feet in width and depth (66 foot in both dimensions ) abruptly burst into view at an intersection, according to the Associated Press.
According to health and emergency officials, the fall opening injured a woman whose vehicle was passing over the page and swallowed the motorist.
The victim, 34-year-old Park, was “found dying in a state of respiratory imprisonment” 18 hours after the incident, according to The Chosun Daily.
Dashcam footage that is widely available online shows the moment a street collapsed near a visitors junction, with the motorcyclist falling in while a car back barely avoids it.
In a televised speech, incident commander Kim Chang Seob confirmed the identification of the bicyclist before lunch on Tuesday.
The victim was discovered with his protective equipment, including his hat and motorcycle boots, according to the officer, and was found wearing them.
The research team had located his Chinese bike and mobile phone before they could find him. According to Kim, the firefighters also used shovels, excavators, and other tools during the procedure.
Kim also confirmed that the person who was hurt did not plunge into the hole and only suffered minor wounds. The sinkhole’s origins are still being investigated.
On Monday evening, Seoul’s Mayor Oh Se-hoon ordered authorities to look into the situation and take precautionary measures to stop it from happening again.
