According to “infighting” in the faith that runs it, Prince Harry, the Duke of Essex, the UK’s Prince of Wales, has resigned as sponsor of a donation he co-founded in Africa.
Prince Seeiso and Prince Harry established Sentebale in Lesotho in 2006. Seeiso, also, left her position as sponsor.
The pair will not be working for the charity “until more notice.”
What transpired is inconceivable, the kings said in a joint declaration. We are shocked that we must do this, but we also have a long-term obligation to Sentebale’s participants, so we will be able to discuss all of our issues with the Charity Commission regarding how this happened.
The Sente’s director claimed neither royal patron had already submitted their resignations.
Conflict over fundraising
According to reports, Dr. Sophie Chandauka, a Zimbabwean prosecutor who was appointed in 2023, and the governors of Sentebale’s estate engaged in a debate. The debate was brought on by a choice to concentrate the nonprofit’s fundraising efforts in Africa.
Kings Harry and Seeiso noted in their assertion that the governors, who resigned in protest of Chandauka, “acted in the best interest of the generosity by asking the seat to move over.”
We applaud them for their company over the years, and we are heartbroken that they took the time to carry out this deed, it read.
Timothy Boucher, Mark Dyer, Audrey Kgosidintsi, Kelello Lerotholi, and Damian West are the governors who have left. They said they were “devastated” and in a joint declaration that announced their unanimous decision.
In reply, Chanduka responded that” some folks” believed that they were above the law.
” All I do here is in the interests of the organization, its vision, and the young folks we serve. Regardless of social position or economical means, my activities are guided by the principles of justice and equal treatment for all,” she said.
About Sentebale
After visiting the Lesotho during his distance time, Harry established Sentebale, which means” Miss me not.” It is named for his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.
It was developed to assist those living in poverty and with HIV/AIDS in Lesotho and Botswana.
