On Wednesday night, President Donald Trump did make new taxes for the automobile industry.
White House press director Karoline Leavitt said the president would provide more information about the new barrier income during a “press meeting” at 4:00 p.m. in the Oval Office but declined to give a preview of the new barriers during her press briefing on Wednesday.
Trump has imposed tariffs on various industries and individual trading colleagues. This list includes 25 % taxes on Canada and Mexico, 25 % tariffs on all downstream products made of steel, aluminum, and other non-trade-related tariffs, as well as 25 % taxes on Venezuela and Iran.
The president has repeatedly promised to impose new “reciprocal” taxes on all buying partners, including those that are currently imposing tariffs on imports from the United States on April 2, adding that the day is known as” Liberation Day” and that there are also hints of additional sector-specific tariffs on items like cars, medicine, brass, and hardwood.
Trump made a suggestion earlier this week that this may no longer be the case, despite his best trade advisers ‘ claims that there would be no mutual tariff exceptions.
