President Donald Trump on Saturday was convinced that his late announced 25 % tariffs on car imports will become permanent after they go into result on April 2.
In a phone interview with NBC News’s Kristen Welker, Trump said the taxes will “absolutely” be everlasting, adding that these are a good answer to foreign countries “ripping off the United States for the last 40 times and more”.
” Absolutely, they’re permanent, positive. The earth has been ripping off the United States for the last 40 years and more. And all we’re doing is being honest, and frankly, I’m being quite generous”, the senator said.
Trump was also asked whether he was concerned about the looming tariffs causing foreign-made car prices to shoot up, to which he said he” couldn’t care less” because that would lead consumers to buy cars made in the United States.
” No, I don’t care less, because if the rates on international vehicles come up, they’re going to get American vehicles”, he said.

Regarding another, more striking mutual taxes likewise set to go into effect on April 2, which Trump has dubbed” Liberation Day”, the senator signaled there would be no delay in the issuing of those individual levies but that there is some room for negotiation.
