Swedish partners who fled from tax officials and were traced to Guatemala, leaving behind 158 buckets of human waste, according to the Guardian.
Stedsans, an allegedly eco-conscious retreat run by Flemming Hansen and Mette Helbk in Halland, southern Sweden, was born out of what they described as a” contact of the outrageous” that they experienced while running a well-known top restaurant in Copenhagen.
However, according to an investigation conducted by newspapers Dagens Nyheter and Politiken, it was discovered a few months ago that the pair had vanished, leaving behind 158 containers of animal waste and various animals. Additionally, the investigation found that waste had been discharged immediately into the nearby jungle.
Many animals, including ducks, were left outside instantaneously by the couple, according to staff, while others were left abandoned when the owners vanished.
Stedsans ‘ marriage was officially registered elsewhere immediately before Christmas, and the pair had been declared bankrupt in March.
In a message posted on their website, they wrote,” We came very much with Stedsans, but we also had to realize that being soul-driven businesses on a quest in a nation where fees are among the highest in the world and administration is continuous, it is an impossible task.”
The Finnish tax authorities “probably declared us penniless when you read this.” We could never have imagined making a more lovely planet, they continued.
The couple moved to Sweden in 2016 after leaving Copenhagen, where they were now deeply indebted to Dutch tax authorities. Stedsans was established there, but they soon began to owe money to Swedish tax authorities, which is estimated to be worth 6 million SEK ( £470, 000 ).
