Prior to the thwarted assassination attempt, the man charged with trying to kill President Trump allegedly tried to buy a rocket launcher and another military-grade arms while lying in wait with a firearm in Florida.
At the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach on September 15, Ryan Wesley Routh was detained as he ascended from his shooter’s seat. Secret Service agents conducting a perimeter push spotted him hiding in some brush close to the seventh hole, according to the indictment. When they realized Routh had a rifle of the SKS type 7.6239 ability, they opened flames.
Routh was briefly captured as he traveled north on I-95, but he was unable to fire any photos himself. He is facing five criminal matters, including one relating to the semiautomatic rifle that investigators discovered in the reported would-be assassin’s hiding place.
He has since entered a not-guilty plea on all works.
Prior to the assault, lawyers claimed that Routh had made an effort to “acquire anti-aircraft weapons,” according to records obtained from the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. He particularly requested assistance from an unidentified call in Ukraine during a conversation over an encrypted messaging service, according to Newsweek.
He allegedly wrote,” Send me an rpg [rocket-propelled grenade ] or stinger and I will see what we can do.” Trump is not good for Ukraine, according to the statement.
Additionally, Routh wrote that the leader “gets on and off normal” and that he “gets on and off of every day.” He then inquired about the potential costs of the arms and whether they could be” shipped.” According to Routh, one missing would not be spotted because Ukraine was at combat, and that such things are “lost and destroyed regular”
The Department of Justice’s filing states that” trying to acquire a destructive machine to blow up President Trump’s plane lies firmly within the realm of an attempt on his life,” and that Routh’s assertions that he needs it” to get a weapon so that Trump may find elected” “drives home his purpose.”
