Peruvian Nobel laureate Mario Vargas Llosa dies at 89 in Lima; 'He enjoyed a long, adventurous and fruitful life,' family says in tribute

Mario Vargas Llosa, a renowned author and 2010 Nobel Prize winner in Latin British books, passed away on Sunday at the age of 89. His death was confirmed by his brother, Lvaro Vargas Llosa, in a statement posted on social media.
The declaration signed by his children, Gonzalo and Morgana read,” It is with deep pain that we announce that our parents, Mario Vargas Llosa, passed away peacefully in Lima now, surrounded by his home.”
The family claimed that there would be no formal meeting and that his ashes may be laid to rest. His passing did sadden his family, friends, and readers all over the world, but we hope they will find solace in knowing that he enjoyed a long, daring, and successful life and left behind a body of work that may surpass his own, the statement added.
Vargas Llosa is credited with writing books about power, problem, and the inconsistencies of Colombian world, including The Day of the Hero, Conversation in the Cathedral, and Feast of the Goat. His first novel, The Time of the Hero ( 1963 ), which was based on his military academy experiences, drew national outcry and was partially burned by military officers who labelled him a communist.
Along with Gabriel Garca Márquez and Carlos Fuentes, he was a key figure in the Latin American literary” Boom,” earning acclaim worldwide for his ability to weave personal accounts with profound social commentary.

Mario Vargas Llosa, Nobel prize in literature, who was he?

He spent his early years in Bolivia with his mother and grandmother after being born Jorge Mario Vargas Llosa on March 28, 1936, in Arequipa, Peru. When Vargas Llosa was ten, the community reconnected in Lima after learning that his father, who was previously thought to be dead, was dead.
He was accepted into the Leoncio Prado Military Academy, which he described as “like discovering hell,” and which afterwards served as the inspiration for his first novel. He received his doctorate in Madrid after completing his studies in writing and rules at San Marcos University in Lima.
His job spanned centuries and continents, with dwellings in Madrid, New York, and Paris. He also wrote columns for the influential” Piedra de Toque” magazine as well as political commentary, and he developed from a young socialist background to a steadfast critic of totalitarianism and communist governments in Latin America.
Vargas Llosa ran for president of Peru in 1990, but Alberto Fujimori, a democratic outsider who afterwards became a contentious authoritarian president, lost. Although he never served in office, his social beliefs had a significant impact on his later work and social life.
His novels frequently explored Peru’s complex social cloth, from Tropical tribes to crumbling aristocracies. Paul Gauguin and Roger Casement were the subjects of afterward works like The Way to Paradise and The Dream of the Celt.
Vargas Llosa had three kids and half married. His famous connection with Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias ‘ family, Isabel Preysler, came to an end in 2022.
His most recent book, Harsh Times ( 2019 ), dealt with US intervention in Guatemala. Vargas Llosa remained a literary power into his late 80s, his runs continuing to inspire thought and enthusiasm across the globe. Despite critics ‘ criticism of his political change,
