China has told its flights not to continue taking Boeing Co plane sales in the middle of their continued trade dispute with the United States, according to Bloomberg. Following US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose 145 percent tariffs on Chinese products, this action comes.
Chinese companies have also been told to stop purchasing aircraft-related parts and products from US manufacturers, according to sources who were cited by Bloomberg.
Following China’s announcement over the weekend that it would impose punitive tariffs of 125 percent on American products, the order was made. Due to these new levies, Chinese Carriers would have to reschedule Boeing aircraft for more than twice the cost of US-made goods and components.
According to sources who spoke to the Bloomberg statement, China is also looking into ways to assist airlines that contract Boeing jets but are now paying higher fees as a result of the tariffs.
Boeing is in a tough position because of the trade conflict between the US and China. The situation could change, but it is still questionable. In the past, President Trump has lifted some taxes, including those that apply to Apple Inc.’s imported iPhones from China.
Boeing faces yet another setback in one of the biggest aircraft income areas.
Over the next 20 years, China is anticipated to account for 20 % of global plane need. According to the Bloomberg statement, nearly 25 % of Boeing’s aircraft were delivered to China in 2018.
