Karmelo Anthony, 17, was released from jail on Monday after his bond was reduced from$ 1 million to$ 250, 000 on Monday morning, according to Fox News. The 17-year-old think is already facing first-degree crime charges related to Metcalf’s deadly stabbing, according to the outlet.  ,
According to Fox News, Anthony may be placed under house arrest, be required to wear an ankle check, and be unable to leave his home without the judge’s approval under the terms of his parole release from jail.
The suspect’s father, Andrew Anthony, was asked during a court hearing why the family could not use more than$ 45,000 in crowdsourced funds for Karmelo Anthony’s legal defense to pay the initial$ 1 million bond, according to The Daily Mail. A family representative told The Daily Mail that the Anthony community has been unable to leave their home as a result of the website address leak. The family has been the subject of “graphic and prejudiced threats,” according to the director, who also claims that “black kids with knives stuck in their heads” have been reported as having been photographed.
Michael Howard, Karmelo Anthony’s lawyer, addressed the funds, saying,” It would be deceptive to say there isn’t income… But it is not a bond fund. This home must be able to endure.
Judge Angela Tucker, who presided over the relationship court hearing, acknowledged that she had not previously gone through the same level of security concerns that the case involving the 17-year-old had. The judge emphasized that the hearing was just a connection hearing and not the case’s real trial. The judge added that a bond’s goal was to safeguard the neighborhood and ensure that a plaintiff showed up in court.
” I don’t consider that softly at all,” I said. The prosecutor said,” I take those things very seriously.” There is no substitute for losing a baby or losing a person. I don’t want the home to believe that the value of reduction is influenced by the bond number. You can’t force the visitor to return.
