Gov. On Wednesday, Governor Newsom (D-CA ) announced that California is suing the Trump administration to challenge President Donald Trump’s right to impose tariffs without the approval of Congress.
The lawsuit contends that Trump’s use of the Global Emergency Economic Powers Act, which gives the president more authority to impose taxes, is unconstitutional and requires parliamentary approval.

The announcement comes on the heels of U.S. District Judge James Boasberg’s discovery on Wednesday that they had probable cause to hold government and government officials in legal contempt because they had broken his orders by refusing to return planes of Venezuelan and Mexican immigrants the administration had rushed to arrest on March 15.
