Phoenix Ikner, 20, has been identified as the suspected shooter following Thursday’s large firing at Florida State University that left two people dead and six others injured.
Social media users resurfaced old comments, social media posts, and what appear to be voting registration data in the immediate aftermath of Ikner’s political connections.
Ikner is alleged to be a registered Republican on a Florida voter registration form, which is claimed to be associated with a widely-shared article on X. The same article points out that Ikner often used Bible verses in his Instagram bio, making assumptions about his conservative beliefs.
What Donald Trump said following the shooting at Florida State University, read likewise:” Guns don’t take.”
Customers shared a picture from a 2017 FSUNews post where Ikner made comments about an anti-Trump protest held on campus due to Donald Trump’s inauguration, more bolstering the speculation. These people are typically quite interesting, but typically never for good reasons. I believe it’s a little too soon because Trump is set to take office on January 20 and there isn’t much you can do unless you declare your opinion, according to Ikner, who is quoted as saying.
Ikner, a Leon County Sheriff’s Deputy with more than 18 years of service, is the brother of Jessica Ikner, according to officials. His mother was the shooter’s tool, according to authorities. Before joining the sheriff’s department Youth Advisory Council, Ikner had recently participated in law enforcement children programs.
He was taken into custody right away, but he is still being treated by the authorities. An analysis into the suspect’s motivation and history is ongoing.
