
After Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent complained to President Donald Trump that Elon Musk had pressured him to take the position without Bessent’s approval, the IRS ‘ speaking head is reportedly being fired.
Gary Shapley, who gained notoriety for his testimony in the Republicans ‘ bribery investigation into  , Hunter Biden, is being replaced as acting IRS director just weeks after being acquitted, according to multiple reports.

Despite Bessent, who controls the IRS, not being asked about the subject, DOGE apparently pushed the White House for Shapley to be appointed. Trump authorised Bessent to depose Shapley, but he gave his consent.

Because of his witness, Shapley is well-known among Republicans. After accusing the IRS and the Justice Department of shoddy-talking about Hunter Biden’s fees to defend then-President Joe Biden, he claims management in 2023 threatened to discipline him.
