Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Camerlengo of the Apostolic Chamber, announced :
Dearest brothers and sisters, with deep sorrow I must reveal the demise of our Holy Father Francis. At 7:35 this day, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of the Father. His whole life was dedicated to the services of the Lord and of His Church. He taught us to survive the principles of the Gospel with devotion, courage, and general love, particularly in favor of the poorest and most marginalized. With immense gratitude for his case as a real servant of the Lord Jesus, we commend the spirit of Pope Francis to the eternal generous passion of the One and Triune God. “
Pope Francis made a quick look at St. Peter’s Square on Easter Sunday, but he did not lead Mass. He likewise met recently with U. S. Vice President JD Vance.
Vance and the bishop exchanged Easter welcome, and the pope presented the vice chairman with chocolate Easter egg for his kids, a Vatican knot, and necklaces.
“ I know you have not been feeling wonderful but it ’s nice to see you in better health, ” Vance reportedly told the bishop. “Thank you for seeing me. ”
Francis, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio on Feb. 17, 1936, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was 88 years older. He was elevated to the place of bishop in 2013 after Pope Benedict XVI resigned, citing health problems. Francis was the 266th pope in the church’s past and the first from the Americas. He was also the first Jesuit pontiff in the church’s story.

There are rigid methods when a bishop dies. According to a site called Wanted in Rome:
Following the Pope’s passing, the Camerlengo ( Chamberlain ) is responsible for confirming the death. Usually, the Camerlengo do touch the Pope’s face with a metal hammer and call out his baptismal name three times. However, this process has been discontinued, and the confirmation today occurs through various means, such as health confirmation. After the death is actually declared, the Camerlengo notifies top church leaders and the citizens of Rome.
The Camerlengo next seals the apostolic rooms and other agencies, a tradition that originated to prevent stealing and then serves as a symbolic end to the Pope’s law. The Vatican enters into a nine-day mourning time, during which many Masses are held in honor of the late Pope.

The priest’s body may lie in condition so the public can give its respects. Following religion custom, the death will be held at St. Peter’s Basilica.
A conference that includes all chiefs under the age of 80 will begin within 15-20 time to choose Francis’s leader. Around 120 cardinals will take a vow of secrecy before being secluded in the Sistine Chapel to deliberate. There are multiple rounds of voting until one candidate receives the required two-thirds majority. After every round of voting, smoke signals are sent from the Sistine Chapel. Black smoke indicates no decision has been made; white smoke announces that a new pope has been elected.
