In the wake of his meeting with Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a deported illegal refugee and alleged MS-13 part imprisoned at the nation’s Terrorism Confinement Center, Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) believes Americans may transfer their hospitality money away from El Salvador.
The Maryland lawmaker said choosing a different country might cause El Salvador to put pressure on to relieve Abrego Garcia, and that Costa Rica would make a better vacation spot.
At Wednesday’s Semafor World Economy Summit, Van Hollen remarked,” Vote with your toes.” Costa Rica is a stunning area. You don’t need to visit El Salvador.
After being deported to El Salvador and imprisoned at CECOT, Van Hollen became the first elected established in the United States to join with Abrego Garcia. Liberals criticized what they thought was a lack of justice for him. The Trump presidency refused to return the Maryland legislator to his house, but it did so.
Van Hollen claimed that Democrats can” change that equation” by saying the White House is paying El Salvador$ 15 million to hold deportedees like Abrego. He added that he has asked the income cash in his state to look into any purchases made in El Salvador.
He added that he thinks Abrego Garcia is” obviously traumatized” by being incarcerated in El Salvador. Van Hollen accused President Donald Trump and President Nayib Bukele of “lying through their gums” about the Maryland man in a visit to him on April 17. Van Hollen confirmed his well-being.
He claimed the Trump administration will hold them in contempt under the law, calling the circumstance a” constitutional crisis” and that the situation has been” constitutional crisis” for the Trump administration.
No one wants to travel there, Van Hollen said, but Donald Trump, or someone in the White House, perhaps it’s [Stephen ] Miller], seems to be interested in doing so. We’re already in the legal problems, argues one analyst.

Van Hollen was mocked for the visit, saying he was” sipping tequila” with him, and Bukele has indicated that he will not do so again.
He refused to allow four House Democrats to arrange a meeting with Abrego Garcia on Monday.
