For Some Parents and Their Daughters, It’s Not Fun to Stay at One YMCA. It’s Disgusting.

The headline made me feel bad, but the truth is that this story may make you cry. &nbsp, &nbsp,

Imagine that you are the family of a seven-year-old child. After taking her swimming lessons at your neighborhood Club, you two enter the children’s locker room to change into clean clothes before heading home. &nbsp,

You hear a voice as you leave your barn. You see the guy sitting in the locker room with his genitalia exposed before you are aware of what is happening. As you and your child run out of the bag place, he responds,” Honey, I’m a girl.” You ask what he’s doing it. &nbsp,

According to one mother whose child attends the North Kansas City YMCA in Clay County, Missouri, this is not some ill incident I created; rather, it is what really happened. The mother responded,” This is not a transitory situation.” This is a case of someone showing my baby their body parts in a place where she ought to be protected from such things. &nbsp,

Obviously, different parents saw the situation as well. One audience representative claimed they were shocked on Fox 4 News in Kansas City. ” Shock, because I have an 11-year-old who frequently visits here with me and works out. It’s undoubtedly a shock. &nbsp,

My 11-year-old uses that bag area, especially after we use the pool, according to another family. You can either use the closed-off rain it or try to change as quickly as you can. It’s undoubtedly startling, and we’ll be hoping for a little bit more of it.

The YMCA of Greater Kansas City released a statement on the subject (emphasis me ):  , the North Kansas City Police Department and the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office are reportedly investigating the incident.

The North Kansas City YMCA is aware of a 2025 reported event in the locker room. We are still conducting an investigation into the affair, but we are unable to provide more information at this time. In addition, we are working with the North Kansas City Police Department to help them with their analysis. We take this issue really because the health and well-being of all of our members are top priorities.

People are permitted to use the bag space or room they identify with and we strictly adhere to state and local laws. For those who prefer the protection they provide, the North Kansas City YMCA also has four personal general changing rooms accessible, separate from the larger shared bag areas.

Members are required to always use a blanket, cover, or other clothing to any of our shared bag areas to ensure that all Y members ‘ privacy standards are respected and security is top priority when using one of our shared bag rooms, as instructed in our Member Handbook.
