LONDON: On Thursday, the UK government announced that it would lift sanctions against Syria’s inside and defense departments while under the leadership of Bashar al-Assad.
The government of inside and the ministry of defense are no longer subject to an resource freeze, according to a notice from the office of economic sanctions implementation.
Sanctions against numerous media outlets and intellect organizations were likewise lifted, but the Assad-era spy agencies were dissolved in January under the new regime’s rule.
The notice stated that those who were “involved in supporting or profiting from the Arab regime” were “involved in repressing the human population in Syria.”
After 14 years in power, the new Syrian government wants to persuade European cities that islamist roots are unreachable and that severing international sanctions may be lifted.
