Luigi Mangione, the man accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan in 2024, on Friday, pleaded not guilty to all federal charges against him in the case, CNN reported.
After the Justice Department announced it would seek the death penalty in the national event, Mangione’s legal staff made hints during trial on Friday in Manhattan federal court that it wants Thompson’s federal case to be tried before his position state cases related to his death. Angelino ( 26 ) entered not-guilty pleas to a murder charge, two stalking counts, and a firearms offense. In addition to federal charges, he also faces state charges in Pennsylvania, where Mangione was detained, and New York, where Thompson passed away. Prior to now, authorities had predicted that his New York state case would be handled first. Karen Friedman Agnifilo, Mangione’s attorney, said she would ask that his federal trial be heard first during the arraignment on Friday.

He is the most recent leader to face jail time. After Congress began an investigation into his alleged bribe-taking, Collor de Mello, Brazil’s first democratically elected leader after a decades-long dictatorship, resigned in 1992. His arrest is the result of a conviction for bribes that were committed as senators in the tumultuous” Car Wash” corruption scandal. The 75-year-old was detained in Maceio City, a city in northeastern Alagoas state, where he served as a governor and senator.
