
Following a brief discussion at Pope Francis‘s death in Vatican City on Saturday night, President Donald Trump and Western Commission President Ursula von der Leyen have come to terms.
In a post on X that featured a picture of Trump shaking fingers with the best EU official alongside second lady Melania Trump, European Commission representative Paula Pinho confirmed the future meet.
President von der Leyen and President Trump “agreed to meet” in their short conversation, according to Pinho.
No additional information about the appointment was made public, and the White House has no confirmed any of it.
Since taking office in January, Trump hasn’t had a meeting with von der Leyen. The announcement of a meeting between the two in the near future comes as the United States has imposed 10 % tariffs on all of its exports on the European Union. Additionally, material, and copper are subject to 25 % levies in Europe.
Trump expressed confidence that a trade agreement between Europe and the United States may be reached before the 90-day suspension of his considerably higher, so-called mutual taxes comes into effect during a conference with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni last week at the White House.
