Axiom Space announced Indian-origin professional Tejpaul Bhatia as its fresh Chief Executive Officer in a significant leadership change only weeks before an American astronomer departed for a traditional goal.
Bhatia, who was formerly the company’s general revenue officer in Houston, comes at a crucial moment. Next month, group captain Shubhanshu Shukla will take the Axiom Ax-4 mission, a collaboration that will allow India to enter a new era of spaceflight, flying to the International Space Station with the Indian Space Research Organization ( ISRO ) and NASA.
Axiom is working against the clock to fulfill its ambitious promise to replace the International Space Station ( ISS) with a commercial one by 2030, pressured by previous private astronaut missions to the bottom line. The place business is at a turning point, and Axiom is leading the charge.
