According to a recent report from the Network Contagion Research Institute, foreign donors have donated nearly$ 29 billion to American universities between 2021 and 2024.

According to the report, which was exclusively made available to The Free Press,” Foreign contributors have given U.S. institutions as much as they have in the previous 40 times,” according to the report, which noted that Qatar and China are the main sources of funding.

The Free Press reported that the$ 29 billion figure represents more than twice the total for the previous four years and accounts for half of the estimated$ 57.97 billion in foreign funding since 1986, the federal government starting to track the data.

This is a regional security crisis, according to NCRI co-founder Joel Finkelstein, who spoke to the media. Industrialized hotspots are gaining sway on American schools.

The statement follows President Donald Trump’s executive order last week that seeks greater transparency regarding international funding for American colleges and universities.

According to a fact sheet that came with the buy,”$ 60 billion in foreign donations and contracts have been funneled into American colleges and universities over the past several years”

According to the point sheet,” Only about 300 of the roughly 6, 000 U.S. organizations self-report foreign income annually.” Unknown international funding raises serious questions about heightened fears about potential foreign influence, threats to national security, and academic integrity compromised.

According to Trump’s executive order, the Secretary of Education must work to make universities “more especially share information about foreign revenue, including the real origin and objective of the funds.”

Additionally, the order directs the attorney general and secretary of education to “hold responsible higher education institutions that fail to comply with the law pertaining to the disclosure of international funding.”

The Secretary shall collaborate with the heads of different professional departments, agencies, and offices, as necessary, to carry out audits and investigations as needed and where necessary to ensure compliance with the law relating to the disclosure of international funding, and to pursue enforcement of this directive through appropriate action from the Attorney General, according to the order.
