Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense ( MND ) reported that 27 sorties of People’s Liberation Army ( PLA ) aircraft, nine People’s Liberation Army Navy ( PLAN ) vessels, and one ship were found operating close to Taiwan until 6 am ( local time ) on Tuesday.
27 sorties entered Taiwan’s northern and southern Air Defence Identification Zone ( ADIZ ) and crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait, according to Taiwan’s MND.
Taiwan’s armed forces deployed naval ships, southern missile systems, and aircraft to monitor the situation in response to Chinese action.
In a post on X, Taiwan’s MND stated that” 27 sorties of PLA aircraft, 9 PLAN vessels, and 1 official ship operating around Taiwan were detected up until 6 a.m. ( UTC+8 ) today. 27 sorties entered Taiwan’s northeastern and southwestern ADIZ over the percentile line. We have closely followed the condition and taken appropriate action.
This incident is the latest in a series of China’s current incursions to Taiwan that have raised questions about local balance as Beijing asserts its claims over the island. Since 1949, Taiwan has been governed separately. Taiwan is still considered a part of its territory by China, and it will likely insist on unification by force if necessary.
According to a report from Radio Free Asia ( RFA ), Taiwan’s ruling party required its members to disclose their plans before visiting China, particularly Hong Kong and Macau, as it was suggested last week.
China and Taiwan have often made accusations of spying, and Taiwan has detained some people it claims Beijing hired to sway public opinion. Beijing typically rejects any involvement in Taiwan’s spy businesses, calling the allegations “politically motivated” or “groundless,” according to RFA.
Lai Ching-te, president and head of Taiwan’s ruling Democratic Progressive Party, announced on Wednesday that all group members are then required to report in advance and file a follow-up record when they travel to China or meet with people connected to the Chinese government.
