
The Ironton Area Governmental Association will have its monthly National Day of Prayer celebration on Thursday.
It will be lunch on the methods of the Lawrence County Courthouse and have seven native ministers to lead prayer for various aspects of American life including those in state, those serving in the military, those in the internet and the artists, local companies, those who educate our children, for the body of the church in the U. S. and for Americans to follow the Bible.
This year’s theme is Romans15 :13 “Pour out to the God of hope and be filled. ”
The second National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by both homes of Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman and since then, every leader has signed a National Day of Prayer statement.
In 1988, President Ronald Reagan signed a legislation designating the second Thursday of May as a time of national meditation.
