The interim government filed a petition for a sit on the break granted to the priest on Wednesday after a chair of the Bangladesh high judge ordered the launch of Hindu priest Chinmoy Krishna Das on bail five months after his arrest on suspicion of defaming the region’s national symbol. On Sunday, the petition will be heard.
Following the final hearing in Chinmoy’s loan application in a insurrection situation filed on October 31, 2024, the HC had before rendered its decision. According to a judge official, the two-judge couch, which includes justices Md Atowar Rahman and Md Ali Reza, upheld its earlier decision and inquired as to why Chinmoy shouldn’t be released on bail. A case was filed on October 31 at the Chittagong police depot, alleging that Chinmoy and 18 people had disrespected the national flag of Bangladesh. Firoz Khan, the original BNP general secretary of Chittagong’s Mohora hospital, filed the rebellion situation.
On November 25, Chinmoy was detained at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. After rejecting his bail plea, the native court in Chittagong sent him to prison the following morning. The identical court on December 11 rejected his successive loan request.
