Christianity has been a fundamental component of American life since the country’s founding, but somehow the mainstream media consistently manages to portray honest believers as strange freaks. One of the most revered and revered symbols of Christianity is being treated like some strange new fashion trend by the New York Times this day.

Misty White Sidell, a” Times columnist covering shopping and fashion changes,” was sent by The Old Gray Lady to create a 1, 400-word explanation of why people are wearing those bizarre t-shaped earrings. Yes, cross necklaces are a “hot equipment.”
The combination may appear to be somewhat immune to trendiness, according to Sidell, as a millennium-old symbol of Christian faith. However, cross necklaces and pendants have been popular before and may be back as a result of some people’s desire to share their beliefs and feel more at ease with others.
Millenniums-old, a side word You write for the wigging New York Times, Misty, I tell you. You ought to be aware that the term “millennia” is used. By the way, the rates from this post reportedly made my grammar checker look like a four-car pile-up on the freeway. The reading is awful.
Sidell mentions how some less-than-friendly people are wearing fly collars:
Earrings with cross pendants are once more popular on dark rugs, on social media, at demonstrations by high-ranking Democrats, and in the White House. In the music videos for her one” Please Please Please Please Satisfy,” Chappell Roan wore an enormous one to the MTV Video Music Awards in September.
Chappell Roan? She tries to be as bad as she can with her whole frustrating persona and focuses her efforts on traditional American life as often as she may.
Sabrina Carpenter? When she approached Dolly Parton about a partnership, the country music star exclusively told Carpenter that she draws the line between making joy of Jesus in her music and making fun of Jesus when she again filmed a filthy music video in a Catholic church.

And don’t get me started on the laws that Democrats support because they cite Jesus.
Sidell devotes four lengthy paragraphs to explaining what the bridge is and why it’s important. It appears condescending at second, but I believe it expresses a disturbing reminder of how little the writer and her visitors are interested in Christianity.

Sidell gets right to the real concern with those odd Christians and their ridiculous necklaces: individuals in the Trump presidency wear them! GASP!
The bridge collars, which are suspended between the neck of Attorney General Pam Bondi, the White House press secretary, and Karoline Leavitt, appear on cable news displays several times per week, she writes.
Sidell does, to be fair, mention Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N. ). Y. ) During his performance on Capitol actions, he wore a bridge collar. Conservative Christians are difficult, just like clockwork.
With the creation of a fresh White House Faith Office, the Trump administration has welcomed faith into the West Wing, writes Sidell. Pastors who hold Christian nationalist ideas have been accompanied to the White House several times in recent weeks (emphasis added ).
We all know that Christians who reject child-killing, unregulated illegal immigration, and letting children always harm their bodies on a whim fall short of what” Christian nationalist beliefs” mean. When Jeffries and friends activate Jesus for more federal and dangerous communist policies, it’s not” Holy nationalism.”

Sidell quotes a fashion professor to end this odd content, which is precisely where I go to get my philosophical questions answered:
Cross necklaces are frequently worn apolitically, according to Lucy Collins, an associate professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York who teaches training in theory, style principle, and morals. However, their presence in the political realm in the United States has had an impact on partisan politics.
The cross itself is a straightforward symbol for Christianity, according to Ms. Collins. She continued,” At this time Christianity is much more complicated than the simple cross,” in contrast.
Although the gospel isn’t complicated, people try to put politics in it when they try to make Christianity complicated. Sidell and her editors should know that wearing cross necklaces by Trump administration officials is not a sign of” Christian nationalism,” but rather a sign of sincere people exercising their faith. Even opportunistic celebrities like Roan and Carpenter, who wear crosses around their necks, do so in the majority of people.
I’m not the only one who has seen this absurdity:
I adore it when they depict ordinary Americans as a foreign tribe in their reporting.

I don’t believe that journos are aware that Americans view them as a strange group of slow emo kids. Their childish self-righteousness and ignorance just kind of makes us roll our eyes. It’s not their fault. They simply have no idea what life is like outside of their friendship circle.

Their coverage has a zoological feel, similar to those BBC documentary series about wild animals.

” The fact that this piece passed the Times ‘ editorial process without anyone saying, “um, guys?” shows exactly why the press always seems so ignorant about the nation it is supposed to cover, wrote National Review’s Charles C. W. Cooke.
Our teacher told a few of my fellow students in her unremarkable way when I wrote for the school newspaper that” there’s a whole [expletive deleted ] world out there, and I want you find out about it. The hearts of Sidell and the New York Times. They simply don’t comprehend that there is a world beyond their sybaritic urban bubble.
