    What Does Russia Want?

Since February 2022, Russia has been engaged in a vicious war to destroy Ukraine. Russian troops initially appeared to be on a roll: they were only a few kilometers away from Kyiv, and European powers offered President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s departure. When Selenskyy objected, Ukrainian troops moved in to stop and change the Russian offensive. Within a few weeks, the conflict grew stronger, with Russia still occupying a large portion of the East and Crimea they had held since 2014. The only thing that could be done was the obvious answer: an armistice that would effectively freeze the borders of conflict and provide Ukraine with adequate security guarantees to stop a new Russian attack.

But there was no way to solve it. After mid-2022, Russia showed little interest in a brokered resolution to the conflict.

President Donald Trump pledged to put an end to the combat, which has resulted in at least 50 000 Ukrainian casualties and up to 200 000 Russian casualties. In order to accomplish that, he pressed Zelenskyy to agree. In the end, Selenskyy delivered a 30-day absolute peace. Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, has so far refused any such peace, probably because he fears that the Trump administration will withdraw its aid from Ukraine, leaving the nation prone to a last Russian offensive.

And this is where Trump’s issue lies. He is aware that a Vietnamese War-style truce is the only option available to the conflict, as everyone else is aware. Russia continues to refuse to cooperate, despite the plea and coaxing of specific envoy Steve Witkoff, whose negotiating stance seems to be cordially appreciating several anti-American tyrants, greeting them warmly in public, and hoping they will grant him what he wants.

So, the Trump administration should take into account everything Russia wants at this point in order to put an end to the conflict. And the answer is astonishingly straightforward: Russia wants to conquer Ukraine, establish a puppet government, or establish a clear path to annex Ukraine. Russia has said it before, and we are aware of this.

In his large masterpiece,” Foundations of Geopolitics,” a book that allegedly served as a textbook for the General Staff Academy, Alexander Dugin, a scholar and geopolitics specialist known colloquially as” Putin’s mind,” spelled out all of this. For Dugin, the Russian soul can only be fueled by royal aspirations; local strength alone would be “tantamount to death for the Russian country.” The West as a whole is the epitome of the Russian heart. And Ukraine, a nation that should be suffused with that” Soviet heart” but wants to be more West-oriented, is a stinging rebuke to the Russian id as a whole. &nbsp,

So, according to Dugin, Ukraine had reunite with Russia or it will always be subject to a “puppet presence and political service” from the West. Dugin claims that Russia’s ongoing status as a royal state amounts to a terrible blow to its political security and an invasion of its territory. Dugin states that during the war,” We must win the war in Ukraine and conquer the whole territory of this original nation from the Nazi plan.” This important continues to be relevant regardless of Trump’s triumph or anything else. In our case, Kiev must be taken, just as the old Roman deputy Cato the Elder once said,” Carthage must be destroyed.”

How may Russia be brought to the table if the real Russian aim is the loss or subjugation of Ukraine? Only through the “peace through power” strategy that Trump used in his first word. Only Russia that thinks the West may refuse to give in to Ukraine will face reprisals. Trump appears to be willing to take that chance into account, and he is now formally acknowledging that Putin appears to be slowing down his behavior. However, the solution didn’t get more sanctions. It will be acknowledged that Ukraine’s sovereignty cannot be guaranteed by the use of power and that a promise of that sovereignty cannot be achieved.
