Given the difficult task of appeasing both sides of the conference with little room for error, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO ) and House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Brett Guthrie (R-KY ) and Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA ) and Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA ) convened for a meeting at the White House on Thursday to discuss budget reconciliation.
The House leadership supports a demanding section routine, with goals set for before Memorial Day weekend and the Senate’s significant tax bill’s goal of last passage by July 4. There is little time for passing due to the delay in these premium trials.
