Since’legal acknowledgement’ of trans-women, there hasn’t been a rise in women’s privacy and safety concerns, according to prof.
A professor of women’s and gender studies claims that Donald Trump “promotes a dramatic and scientific concept” regarding sex and gender in response to far-left philosophy on the subject.
Ina Seethaler of Coastal Carolina University writes in The Conversation that, contrary to what the president has said ( and done ), she is aware of what science actually says about gender and sex.
Seethaler makes reference to a common misconception that sex and gender are two distinct concepts in her and related fields for centuries. That is, the previous refers to natural characteristics while the latter is composed of “norms, functions, behaviors, and expectations” for a particular culture.
In other words, according to Seethaler, “gender does not pursue science. Otherwise, people develop what is known as a “gender identity”: an internalized sense of masculinity, femininity, or some combination thereof.
The author of “gender, movement, and life writing,” “feminist pedagogy,” and “gender and famous culture” claims that Trump himself has an opinion of a “biological determinism” as a gender ideology. This presupposes that” there are only two women” and that” the sex assigned at birth entirely determines person’s role in society.”
Seethaler asserts that research shows that “privacy and safety concerns” have decreased since transgender folk’s “legal recognition” and that there is” no evidence” that biological women” should fear violence” from transgender women (aka biological men ).
So why has nation been acting ineffectively for so long? And sex wasn’t just used as a way to discuss one’s sex as an word without making the other person think they were discussing sex as a word?

[S] ocieties with a natural determinism are typically masculine. People keep the majority of the highest positions of authority, and they were created by men for the benefit of men.
Patriarchal nations, including the United States, have a tendency to prioritize manhood over sexuality. Women are weaker than people, more emotionally sensitive, and better suited for maintenance work, according to political and religious leaders, the media, and social standards. …
Public conversation on these fundamental social and political rights is resurfacing as the Trump administration returns to a superficial definition of sex and gender.
There are issues with trans women playing sports in the state and federal levels, including laws that would make it illegal to identify as transgender, and challenges to women serving in battle in the U.S. military.
To be clear, the majority of state and federal legislation affects men who play women’s sports, never sports in general. And transgender athletes who offer natural choices can get themselves ostracized (especially in blue states ), may find themselves excluded.
Seethaler ( pictured ) points to a piece of legislation from one state, Texas, that even NBC News.com acknowledged was “unlikely” in terms of making it illegal to identify as transgender.
In terms of” challenges” for women in military combat roles, new Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth initially said he didn’t want them, but later changed his mind, as long as women uphold the same standards as men (especially in on-the-ground operations ).
Seethaler’s scientific papers include” Ladies and Allies in Action: College Students as” Diversity Workers” in the Activism Classroom,”” Geeks, Maids, and Thieves: An Examination of Refugees on US Television,” and” From Roseanne Barr to Amy Poehler: Comediennes, Memoirs, and Feminism,” according to ResearchGate.
