One person was killed when a small airplane crashed into a private area in Simi Valley, California, on Saturday evening, killing one man aboard. According to local authorities, the incident occurred in the Wood Ranch group about 50 miles north of Los Angeles, according to Associated Press news agency.
The Van’s RV-10 plane crashed between two homes. Smoke was spotted rising from one of the properties. Soon after the collision, fire crews arrived and managed to evacuate the residents properly. Although the houses were harmed by both the fall and the resulting fire, the Ventura County Fire Department confirmed that no injuries had been reported among the people.
Authorities have not yet disclosed any details about the aircraft or the crash’s potential origin. The Van’s RV-10 is referred to as a “home-built aircraft” that comes in “kit” form and has recently been involved in other accidents. A father and daughter were killed and 19 people were hurt when a related concept crashed in Fullerton in January.
