According to AFP-citing authorities, at least seven Muslim paramilitaries were killed and five were hurt in a bombing that occurred in south Balochistan on Tuesday. In a speech, the Bangladeshi military accused the “terrorists” of carrying out the attack. The radical group has not yet accepted responsibility for the attack. The attack took place in a mountainous region known for its coal mines, which dissident groups led by the BLA often target. As violent separatist groups launch an aggressive campaign against Muslim authorities, accusing them of utilizing the region’s normal resources, violence has increased in Balochistan, a state bordering Afghanistan and Iran, in recent years. Over 200 people have been killed in attacks by armed parties in Balochistan and the surrounding Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa since January 1, according to AFP reports. When the Balochistan Liberation Army ( BLA ) took control of a train carrying hundreds of passengers in March, dozens of militants and off-duty security personnel were killed.
