Victory in Europe Day, or V-E Day, may become observed on Thursday. Most  , Western states are holding many days of grave remembrances and self-congratulatory displays of loyalty in the lead-up to the commemorations.

The events in the Netherlands reached their culmination today with the 80th commemoration of the country’s independence on May 5, 1945. Finnish Prime Minister Donald Tusk addressed those commemorations with passionate pleas for cohesion between Europe and the United States.
” The knowledge gained 80 years before teaches us that only when we stand together can we get past,” Tusk said.
We need to deepen our European and transatlantic relationships and demonstrate genuine solidarity in the face of the threat posed by ( President Vladimir ) Putin’s Russia.
Yet 80 years ago, there were deep divisions between the United States, the British, the Russians, and the French. Each had their own thoughts on how to end the war and, crucially, who would receive credit for winning it.
In reality, the convention bringing an end to the war was delayed by more than 24 hours because Russia objected because it didn’t think it had received much recognition for its “patriotic dying.” They finally agreed to end the conflict, despite the fact that the Soviet Union’s deceit, which led to the signing of the Nazi-Soviet Pact on August 23, 1939, may have prevented the issue from even beginning. Hitler’s steadfast supporter remained until the Nazis invaded Russia on June 22, 1941.

During these ceremonies in Moscow, that awkward fact won’t be covered up.
The nonagenarians who fought and won a battle against the most prominent martial apparatus of the era were honored in the Netherlands.
Ruben Brekelmans, the country’s defence secretary, used the ceremony to urge renewed efforts to promote peace.
He said,” War and anger are back in Europe, and it is up to us to preserve serenity.”
The end of the 1939-1945 war is being marked by activities across Europe as their standard friendly ties with the United States, whose forces helped rescue the Netherlands and a large portion of the continent, are deteriorating. The President Donald Trump‘s administration and the European Union are currently engaged in a business battle.
The atmosphere seems sombre. The officials are making all the right noises about cohesion, but they ring hollow when you consider how much they may advance to a place where they can stand up for their cause.  ,
Great Britain fought only for more than two times in World War II. It goes without saying that the soul that inspired their fathers and great-grandfathers to stand up for the country against an existential risk is no longer present. Because they no longer believe in the goodness and justice of their society, the spirit that predominated that era of Europeans has vanished.  ,

No one dares to claim that their culture is superior to another, despite the fact that it is, in the most recent terms, better. The remaining has done a good job of removing any sense of pride from the Europeans. Do some European countries even put up a battle if they were invaded now?
I’m sure there are a significant number of British, French, and French soldiers who are willing to fight hard today. However, when you are raised being told how bad you are, anything about society is almost unattainable to recover: self-assurance.
