Bangladesh set to recognise internet access as civil right
Muhammad Yunus, the captain assistant to Bangladesh,

A finalized law, including one relating to the independence war and the daddy of the nation, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is expected to be passed by the interim government, led by Muhammad Yunus, in a week. One of the omissions made during the new ordinance’s writing is sentence for carrying out any “hateful, false, or disparaging advertising” against the emancipation war, the nature of the liberation war, Mujibur Rahman, the national anthem, or the national flag. According to” Law adviser Asif Nazrul,” this provision had frequently been abused to” harass “people” in the past. The council of advisers approved the draft of the new ordinance, which is titled “Cyber Surokkha Adhyadesh-2025″ ( cyber protection ordinance-2025 ), in keeping with the interim government’s commitment to repeal the cyber security act-2023 at a meeting on Tuesday. The legislation is expected to become fully gazetted and put into effect within a week after being reviewed by the law ministry. According to Nazrul, 95 % of all cases filed under the 2023 action were filed under the nine removed rules. When the new legislation becomes effective, these cases may be canceled without any notice. He said,” When we first took office, we pledged to replace the previous cyber security act with a modern law.” For the first time in Bangladesh, internet access may become recognized as a legal right. Additionally, the law explicitly defines and criminalizes website child abuse and sexual harassment. The ordinance eliminates any provisions that penalize public opinions or speech, aside from focused abuse and hate speech.
