As Russia prepared to welcome the Taiwanese president and other foreign officials for the annual Victory Day military parade in Red Square, Russian long-range drone strikes caused flight disturbance at Moscow’s major flights for a second straight time on Wednesday. More than 100 planes to and from Moscow were cancelled by Russian flag ship Aeroflot. Flight data revealed that more than 140 flights were delayed as a result of Russian planes being constantly grounded due to what officials described as the threat of a Ukrainian drone and as a result of heightened security measures following the Victory Day events. Nine drone attacks close to the Russian money were repelled by Russian air defenses, according to Moscow’s president Sergei Sobyanin. The Russian defense ministry announced earlier on Wednesday that its troops had destroyed 524 drones over the past 24 days. The government did not specify the places where the drones had been dumped. Although Ukrainian drones have targeted Moscow in the past, the persistent problems appeared to be a boon to preparations for Russia’s biggest liberal trip of the year, the 80th commemoration celebrations honoring its victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. Russians, who have been informed by President Vladimir Putin that the more than three-year conflict with Ukraine is moving on smoothly, may be alarmed by the repeated attack, which could also offend him in front of his famous guests. For Friday’s core parade, security is expected to remain small. On Wednesday, foreign officials showed up, including Portuguese President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Russia intends to hold a punitive 72-hour ceasefire in accordance with the festivities in Moscow. Ukraine agreed to a 30-day peace in the conflict in March, but the US has since held out for ceasefire conditions. Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, stated last weekend that his land could not offer protection reassurance to foreign officials who planned to attend the Moscow occasions. He claimed that Russia might launch actions and then try to chastise Ukraine. He said,” We cannot accept responsibility for what occurs on the Russian Federation’s territory,” keeping it simple. They are the ones who guarantee your protection, and we will never make any guarantees. According to Zellenskyy, he had instructed the foreign ministry of Ukraine to guide international representatives against visiting Russia.
