A prominent left-wing influence and political commentator claimed on Monday that US border agents interrogated him and spent days questioning him about his political views. Hasan Piker, a US citizen who has thousands of YouTube, Twitch, and X fans and has been open about his criticism of Israel, claims he was detained at Chicago’sO’Hare International Airport for more than two hours on Sunday. He spoke out as President Donald Trump‘s administration is receiving more and more negative feedback from regulators for his obnoxious remarks about federal agents ‘ claims of punitive treatment of US citizens and lawful residents for expressing his liberal views. Although Pike claimed his exchanges with officials were mostly polite, an officer inquired about Trump’s views and whether he had any connections to Hamas and Hezbollah-related militant groups. He says,” Would you speak about Trump?” And that was the first time I ever thought,” What is this question?” Piker stated in a movie that was posted to his YouTube channel. I actually told him straight away. I was like,” Why are you asking me this…? What does this have to do with anything?” Piker claims that he said to the standard,” I don’t enjoy Trump. What are you going to do, for example? The 33-year-old Turkish-American was born in New Jersey and has previously hosted US Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on his software. According to media reports, Tricia McLaughlin, a department of homeland security official, denied that Piker’s political beliefs led to the intermediate testing. This person was referred for additional inspection after entering the country, which is a program, valid procedure that can be applied to any traveler. When his examination was finished, he was immediately released, McLaughlin told US press. Piker claims that the US Constitution protects the freedom of speech in his website content, and that he has never violated it. According to him,” the reason they’re doing that is to try to create an environment of anxiety, to try to persuade people like myself, or at least like people who would be in my shoes who don’t have that same level of security,” to shut down. The idea of border officials stopping political observers from interrogating them about constitutionally protected speech “deeply disturbed” by the advocacy party Defending Rights &, Dissent. Like a misuse of power is a retaliation for press freedom, it said.
