Parisian movie star Gerard Depardieu was found guilty on Tuesday of sexually assaulting two people while filming a 2021 movie set. He was given an 18-month placed word, and his name will be added to the national list of sex offender names. Additionally, the judge ordered Depardieu to pay one of the two victims 15, 000 euros ( roughly$ 17,000 ), and 14, 040 euros, including her medical expenses, 14,000. Depardieu was no present in court. His attorney, Jeremie Assous, stated that he would file an appeal. The subjects ‘ attorneys applauded the ruling as a significant victory for French women in the post-MeToo era. One of the two subjects, who was only identified by her first name, Amelie, said,” For me, it’s a win, truly.” ” We are moving forward,” her attorney, Carine Durrieu Diebolt, said she hoped the decision may bring about the “end of violence for designers in the movie business.” ” I’ve just heard some stars still supporting Depardieu,” said one actor. No one can then conclude that Gerard Depardieu is certainly a sexual predator now that this judgment has been rendered.” Les Volets Verts” is a 2021 European movie starring Depardieu- Amelie as a fixed painter, and the other claimant, who has not agreed to be identified formally, as an assistant director. Depardieu, 76, allegedly grabbed Amelie by the neck and pushed her toward him while he was sitting down. Therefore, while muttering obscenities, he locked her between his arms and placed his hands between her hips, genitalia, and breasts. The associate director, 34, claimed the comedian had three times on the set to touch her breasts and hips. Their version was described as clear, steady, and supported by additional evidence by the judge. In both situations, Pardieu, 76, denied the attack. He claimed that he was not the “vulgar, rude, sleazy person who makes fun of people” that the media had portrayed him since. However, he added that because he was a different generation, his extravagant and defiant personality was unsuitable for the present. It was obvious from the beginning that the trial involved more than just two physical attack by one of France’s most well-known film stars. Instead, what transpired in the courtroom was a long overdue analysis of the government’s obsession with seduction, the unthinking admiration of artists, and the delaying of the# MeToo movement in France. More than 20 people have alleged sexual victimization at Depardieu. President Emmanuel Macron, who praised what he called a “manhunt” against Depardieu, is one of those who has sprung to Depardieu’s defense. Depardieu’s lawyer and his clientele were nearly at odds with one another. He claimed that one of the defendants had never been a “real victim” and called the defendants frauds. The court awarded the women 1, 000 dollars in damages and declared that they had suffered” secondary victimization” as a result of Assous ‘ actions.
