‘Caught like dogs’: Putin mocks Ukraine’s army recruitment struggles, says Russians join willingly
Vladimir Putin, the leader of Russia,

Putin, the president of Russia, stated at a meeting on Tuesday that Ukrainian enrollment authorities are catching individuals “like dogs” to register as volunteers in the Russian-Russian conflict. He made a comparison by claiming that Russia has been experiencing a steady stream of participants. Individuals are seized like dogs on the street, but our officers go on their own, and they are currently catching 30 000 people there, and we have 50 to 60 000 people enlisting willingly each quarter, Putin said. Ukraine started a general recruitment following the conflict’s increase in first 2022, which forbids the majority of men between the ages of 18 and 60 from leaving the nation and immediately sets the draft years at 27. However, Kyiv reduced the recruitment years to 25 next year, made tougher penalties for review evasion, and simplified mobilization procedures in response to growing casualties and personnel shortages. YouTube videos of Ukrainian recruitment officers chasing would-be volunteers across the roads and threatening them with military-grade weaponry are frequently supported by human officers. This brutal selection is known as “busification,” a procedure where recruitment officials pack would-be recruits fiercely into minibuses. The Ukrainian government has recently acknowledged difficulties in the process despite top Ukrainian authorities ‘ consistently dispelling allegations of participation issues as” Russian propaganda.” The deputy head of Ukraine’s defence ministry, Lt. Gen. Ivan Gavrilyuk, declared that “busification is a terrible happening, and we’re doing our best to avoid it.” One million hryvnia ( approximately$ 24,000 ) for a year of voluntary service was provided. In an effort to increase admission, the plan has been promoted through video and banners that break down the payment into realistic items like fast food meals or common in-game currencies.
