Trump appears only president not invited to speak at Notre Dame graduation in 65 years

Additionally, the school rejects JD Vance, a second Catholic who serves as evil president of the United States.

Donald Trump appears to be the only newly elected president to be denied invitation to talk at the University of Notre Dame’s initiation ceremony in the last 65 years. The custom started when John F. Kennedy made an address at the 1960 meeting.

The Fix and other reliable sources have repeatedly contacted the school to inquire as to whether or not the school invited the president or vice president to talk at its May 18 initiation.

Looking up, the university noted that Trump was never invited in 2017 following his first vote. According to the National Catholic Register, then-President John Jenkins claimed that Trump didn’t “met a certain bar in terms of really moral decency.”

According to The College Fix, Jenkins resigned in 2023 after permitting on-campus speakers to promote sexuality, transgender, and pregnancy.

Additionally, the president of a traditional Notre Dame students party stated that he doesn’t think Trump was invited this year.

When asked for comment, Sycamore Trust Chairman Bill Dempsey pointed The Fix to an essay he’d written about the subject, titled” Snubbing Tradition,” in which he had previously written.

It seems obvious he wasn’t invited, according to Dempsey, although both the school nor President Trump’s office would confirm this.

Dempsey even raised concerns that Vice President JD Vance wouldn’t be present at the meeting.

Vance “is just the next Catholic vice president of the United States.” This makes “his presence from the school’s initiation plans even more obvious, especially since Notre Dame invited Trump’s past evil president,” Dempsey said.

In addition, Dempsey noted that “pro-abortion President Obama and Biden, who were invited, met Father Jenkins ‘ normal despite being the Church’s most fierce enemies on pregnancy” through their policies and programs facilitating and promoting pregnancies.

Obama’s 2009 talk attracted a lot of criticism for Notre Dame’s selection, including the disapproval of 83 cardinals and bishops, he claimed.

Students staged a protest and celebrated Mass on the rear, drawing thousands. He claimed that the former president’s statement also sparked a flood of petition signatures.

President Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and George W. Bush are another former listeners.

The Observer‘s editorial board members advocated in favor of inviting Trump to the meeting in February.

They added that” Notre Dame has never been a place for philosophical cowardice” and that it” should never start now” and that” the office they hold — and the suggestions they bring — need engagement, not retreat.”

However, other students responded with an op-ed in reply, saying that” Trump has consistently demonstrated that he cannot fall to the standard we expect from our commencement speakers.”

Junior Bridgette Rodgers stated in another op-ed for the independent student newspaper The Irish Rover that “[ Inviting Vance ] would demonstrate to students that one doesn’t have to give up one’s faith in order to succeed, and that all success is ultimately based on living out the faith.

Dempsey, but, suggested that Notre Dame completely repeal the policy of inviting every elected leader to provide a commencement address.

The disastrous Obama affair has seriously harmed Notre Dame’s status as a Catholic university, he said, and it will happen again every time a pro-abortion candidate is elected president and honored at Commencement. Additionally, these presidential visits don’t improve the popularity of the institution.

Adm. Christopher Grady, a Notre Dame student and acting chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will deliver the speech this month, according to an statement from the university.

Trump may not have been invited to handle at ND, but he did become the first hanging senator to give the University of Alabama commencement address this month, according to ABC. &nbsp,

He addressed the alumni on May 1st, according to the Associated Press, “You’re the first college course of the golden era of America.”

Less: Notre Dame used federal funding to research “queer farmers ‘ relationships.”
