Canadians didn't like it when Britain invited Donald Trump for a state visit, says PM Mark Carney
UK PM Keir Starmer invited President Donald Trump for a position visit. King Charles would be in Ottawa to enter state opening of parliament on May 27.

Ahead of King Charles ‘ visit to Ottawa on May 27 to enter Canada’s state opening of parliament, Prime Minister Mark Carney said Canadians did not like it when UK Prime Minister Mark Carney extended an invitation to Donald Trump for a second state visit, the first one was in 2019. Carney said it was an uninteresting move on the part of the king under which Canada comes– given the circumstances of Donald Trump hammering every day that he wants Canada to be the 51st position. ” To be frank, they weren’t impressed by that movement, very simply, given the circumstance,” Carney told Sky News. ” It was at a time when we were being quite evident, some of us were being quite clear, about the issues around independence. ” Carney said that he made it clear that Canada is not for sale, and the offer that Starmer presented to Trump while in the Oval Office” cut across some of those messages. ” Carney conveyed the same stern information to President Donald Trump during the current in-person gathering, and Carney even requested Trump never send to Canada as the ’51st condition’. Carney said that inviting Trump was the UK and Buckingham Palace’s politics and his mind does not really matter in this case. ” I have an opinion on some points, some of which I keep to myself, the PM said. The visit of King Charles who is still undergoing cancer treatment is going to be legendary as this would be the first time a British king has attended the event in Ottawa since 1977. ” This ancient dignity matches the fat of our days,” Carney earlier announced, adding that Queen Camilla would add the visit. The visit is never a coincidence as it comes when Canada’s autonomy as a nation is being challenged by the US. ” All issues around Canadian sovereignty [that ] have been accentuated by the president, what he said, they exist in normal times as well,” he told Sky News. ” So no, never it is not accidental but it is also a asserting second, will be a strengthening. “
