During a Thursday monument service at the Capitol, President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance paid tribute to law enforcement officers who were killed in action.

The president made game notes during the event, which was one of a number of events in honor of National Police Month. He is currently wrapping up a Middle Eastern trip this year.

” Untold tens of thousands of brave officers, officers, representatives, warriors, and federal agents risk their lives every day to defend our communities and keep America safe,” Trump said. We particularly pay tribute to those who have made the most commendable compromise in the defence of our laws. In the course of their life, 147 officers were killed last season.

Trump also praised the executive order, which the Justice Department was asked to seek the death penalty for when it was found guilty of murdering a police officer on his first time in business.

Trump referred to the professional attempt as “it was my great honor to do it”. Every law enforcement official in the nation should be aware that you have a leader who will always include your back, I want them to understand.

In his notes to the Capitol’s group, Vance acknowledged the deaths of two officers in the last year of the alleged revenge incident, as well as a second officer’s death earlier this month.

Deputy Sheriff Fernando Esqueda of Harris County, Texas, was killed in a car chase in July of that year as he was looking into a car wanted in connection with an aggravated abuse. David Lee, a member of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police, was killed in a car accident on Interstate 70 in September 2024 after being hit by a Kia Sorento vehicle.

” Now we mourn the real soldiers, the adult men and women who have been taken from us far too immediately,” Vance said. ” We mourn soldiers like David Lee, an 18-year senior of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department,” said Lee.

Vance continued,” He died as he lived, serving people unwaveringly.”

The vice president added that Esqueda’s death “brought over 1, 000 group people” who honored the late policeman’s tradition.

Vance finally brought up Larry Henderson, a deputy sheriff in Hamilton County, Ohio, who supposedly was killed by Rodney Hinton Jr. in retribution for the death of his son Ryan Hinton, who was also killed by Cincinnati authorities.

The author said,” The tale hits particularly close to home because, of course, I’m a person who calls Cincinnati my home. ” Deputy Henderson was a remarkable public servant to western Ohio, the region of the country that gave me who I am,” Henderson said.

During the federal police weekk, VANCE TOUTS WHITE HOUSE SUPPORT FOR Laws ENFORCEMENT.

Democrats were slammed by the vice president indirectly for backing the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020 and the resulting “defund the Police” message. Vance, in contrast, promised that unwavering support for legislation enforcement would continue under the Trump presidency.

As the crowd clapped in aid, Vance said,” I want to get clear about one last point: The Trump administration has zero tolerance for anyone who threatens to defund, dismantle, or otherwise reduce our law enforcement champions.”
