Another Covid wave coming? Hong Kong and Singapore report sharp jump in cases as virus detected in sewage water

Covid-19 is once more making headlines in Asia, with the surge in infections, hospitalizations, and influenza activity in Hong Kong and Singapore, which contradicted theories that the disease may slow down in the cooler months, according to Bloomberg. Officials in Hong Kong are raising the alarm. The Center for Health Protection’s Communicable Disease Branch’s head of activity, Albert Au, said,” The virus ‘ activity is quite high.” In the week ending on May 3, the city recorded its highest proportion of Covid-positive breathing tests in a year, and extreme circumstances, including deaths, rose to a year-high of 31. A reliable sign of neighborhood spread, wastewater surveillance, reveals higher viral loads, which indicates that the coronavirus is prevalent in the area of over 7 million. Singapore, in contrast, is wrestling with its own rise. After cases increased by 28 % in a week to reach 14,200 infections, the health ministry issued a formal Covid update for the first time in nearly a year. The state has issued a reminder to high-risk citizens to keep up with vaccinations, and hospitalizations have increased by 30 %. Although there is no new variant to responsible, health experts believe that waning resistance is making the virus spread more quickly. There is no proof that these strains are more severe than they are, but they still have the potential to disrupt livelihoods and obliterate care systems. Eason Chan, a well-known Hong Kong song, tested positive in Taiwan and was forced to reschedule his Kaohsiung recitals this month, deceiving thousands of fans. Similar trends are also emerging in other Asian regions. In the past five months, Covid check enthusiasm in hospital patients has doubled, according to China’s CDC. Additionally, the Department of Disease Control claims that post-Songkran groups have resulted in swarm outbreaks in Thailand.
