According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), an earthquake of 4.2 scale quashed Afghanistan on Monday morning. The spasms were felt at a level of 140 kilometers at around 08.54 am IST. Information of the earthquake were provided on the NCS’s X bill. This is the third consecutive earthquake to strike the nation in the last four days, with the center located at a longitude of 36.41 N and a latitude of 70.94 E. A 4. 5 magnitude quake erupted earlier on Sunday, shaking Afghanistan. It occurred at a level of 150 kilometers, according to the NCS. An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 recently struck the area on May 17th. The area experienced yet another disaster of scale 4.0 on May 16. Because the geological waves travel a longer distance before reaching the moon’s surface, which is why they lose their strength, authorities believe deeper disasters are less risky than deep disasters. Strong disasters have occurred in Afghanistan before. The Hindu Kush area is a geographically effective area where disasters take place every year, according to the Red Cross. Afghanistan is a seismically active area because it is situated on some fault lines between the Indian and the Asian geological plates. Additionally, a significant problem line passes through Herat instantly. This collision between these sheets causes repeated seismic activity. Afghanistan is still highly susceptible to natural disasters, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs ( UNOCHA ). Additionally, floods, earthquakes, and annual flooding are included. UNOCHA noted that these numerous earthquakes in Afghanistan may harm weakened, underdeveloped, and vulnerable communities. Due to these difficulties, they have only the capacity to deal with many catastrophe at once.
