A Bloomberg News reporter was detained this month when anti-Israel activists took control of Columbia University’s major library, but he now faces termination of his position at the news outlet. Authorities confirmed Monday that Jason Kao, a previous New York Times staff, was charged with unlawful theft after police intervened to secure the tower at the exclusive Morningside Heights establishment on May 7. Kao received a workplace demeanor solution following his arrest at Columbia. The New York Post reported on Monday that a Bloomberg representative informed the publication that the design writer no longer works for the financial media organization. Kao, who graduated from Columbia in 2022 and wrote for the school publication, is still unsure about his actual role in the library interruption. During the rally at the Ivy League hospital, where participants harmed school house and caused disruptions with drums while students were preparing for final exams, the authorities detained 81 people. Two security staff were hurt when masked demonstrators entered the building, according to acting school leader Claire Shipman. More than 65 students have received time suspensions from the university, while 33 alumni and members of affiliated institutions have been denied the right to enter the school. Kao previously worked for the New York Times through its scholarship program, according to the Free Beacon, and had most just contributed to a Bloomberg post on May 1. Following the evil group’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, Kao’s deleted X accounts contained many posts regarding the Israel-Hamas discord in Gaza. Ramona Sarsgaard, the 18-year-old child of celebrity Maggie Gyllenhaal, was one of the people who were detained during the collection activity. On Monday night, attempts to reach Kao failed to be made.
