Rachel Levine, a natural male who identifies as woman, has received an honorary degree from Smith College, an all-female organization.
Levine also addressed the graduates and their families on Sunday during the personal school’s initiation meeting, at which Levine also gave the recognition.
Levine, a controversial figure, is credited with being the first four-star openly transgender captain in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps and as the country’s first openly transgender assistant director for health under President Joe Biden. Prior to becoming Pennsylvania’s health minister, Levine’s original name was Richard.
Levine has received a lot of criticism for his views supporting comprehensive trans switching treatments, also for young children, and Draconian guidelines during COVID-19.
On its site, Smith described Levine as an “accomplished doctor, public health professional, and LGBTQ+ argue.”
Richard” Rachel” Levine will receive an honorary degree tomorrow from @smithcollege, a previously female college. At the conclusion of the session, Levine will talk while posing as a person.
